Hearts break, they say

That neat emoji with two evenly-jagged lines re-fitting perfectly into each other if you push them together …

One whole heart - entire. Unbroken. Never really broken perhaps …

Hearts don’t do that, people

Hearts

  just

don’t

do

  that!!!

Hearts explode!

They shatter

They scatter

Into trillions

gazillions

of miniscule bloody shards

Each weeping individually …

(like endometriosis)

Staining the universe with blood

still-living blood

Hearts erupt

Ripped apart

Like a balloon pumped with too much air

Pops!

Loudly

Untidily

Uneven broken pieces

Flung to the furthest reaches

Fluttering to the floor in an ungainly mess

You ever put a popped balloon back together??

Hearts detonate

like a BOMB!

Crushing news never makes a neat pin-prick

That runs back together like quicksand

No!

Gently-spoken devastation gouges out pulsing muscle

bleeding life thru gushing crevices

Tatters of torn tissue litter the present and future where I walk

Blood mixed with burning tears ignite red-hot fires

Blazes that encounter no fight from tired tired bones

So they burn you down to sad waning embers

But the splintered heart remembers …

Hearts convulse

Split apart

By brute force of soft creeping grief

Obedient to no other impulse

Than searing agony

Unbearable

Defying the belief that Life could dare to exist

Inside this raging cacophony

Ungently quietly

Killing me

while I yet live

_________

Hearts don't feel, they say

Don't they?

DON'T THEY?

Then what's that crack I heard

That fracture

(the earth shook)

shouting louder than words

How could I know exactly where it hurts

If you say hearts don’t feel it

All over

It hurts

It’s all over

Hearts don’t break

They burst

Rumbling

Like thunder

Shaking the earth

I tremble at the crash

I stumble

Crumble

Who’s there to pick up the pieces?
